Sustainability Sucking

Well, I, Miss Sustainability Challenge is the Greatest Thing on Earth, have to admit that the first day of my sustainability challenge was pretty horrible. I had a really crazy day that started off with a parent teacher conference, and my daughter was home sick from school, and I needed to get a lot more work done than I had time to do. So what happened? I didn't recycle a ton of things that I probably should've recycled. I used enough paper towels to last the normal person a year, and I even threw away food instead of putting it in the compost bin.

But on the other hand, at least I was aware that I was doing these things. And maybe if we weren't doing the SC right now, I wouldn't even have been aware. I tried to make up for it later in the night. I cooked some tacos (with organic ground beef of course.) After dinner when I looked at the taco pan, it was the one of the greasiest most horrifying sights I have ever seen. And so I thought “okay I’ll just get a roll of paper towels.” Really I was going to use the whole roll. But I didn't! I cleaned the nasty pan up with a spoon and put the leftover grease inside the taco seasoning packet and threw it all out. There are some lovely photos on the blog for those of you who are reading this on ANGEL.

Also I brewed some delightful hibiscus tea for me to drink while I have my conferences with my beloved students tomorrow. (So I don't pound diet cokes all day, get really agitated, and throw a bunch of plastic bottles in the garbage.)

Hope you did better than me today. Just keep being aware!
