I have to admit that I have spent a lot of this semester and what I call survival mode - basically so busy that if one little thing goes wrong (like my kid getting sick or having an unexpected meeting to go to) that I'm suddenly totally behind in every area of my life.
I generally know when I've slipped into survival mode when certain things aren't getting done like making the bed, sweeping out from under the kitchen table, keeping my toenails painted. You get the picture.
Some things are rarely the victim of survival mode for me. One of them is food - as you can imagine. No matter how bad and disorganized things are, I generally manage to have a pretty tasty and nutritious dinner prepared for my family. I guess what's really important to you are the last things that you let slip.
I also have a really kept up with most of my sustainability efforts too - not only because they are important to me, but because I set up my environment so they are pretty easy to maintain. I have paper recycling bins stashed away in almost every room of my house. I have a little recycling bin right outside the kitchen door, in case it's raining, or it's hot, or I'm just grouchy and I don't want to walk the extra 10 feet to the big recycling bin.
Today I set up my office to be a little bit more environmentally friendly. I used the water fountain like I said I was going to. I brought some cloth napkins like the kind I use at home. I even brought home some of the leftovers from my lunch so we could put that in the compost bin
More on survival mode to come. I am noticing a lot of our posts have to do with organization!
